Question:

Please give me the best detailed description of John 8:34-55. Who is there, what, who is speaking to whom, and its meaning.

Also who is Mount Seir? Who are perpetual haters? Who is   Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated? Who is Esau today? Who is Edom?

Who are those who martyred the saints?

Answer:

I am left puzzled as to where you are going with your questions.

You can read a detailed discussion of John 8:12-59 in the lesson "The Origin of Jesus."

Mount Seir is not a person but the name of a mountain. It is the area where Esau, the brother of Jacob, chose to live. "So Esau dwelt in Mount Seir. Esau is Edom" (Genesis 36:8). Edom is Esau's nickname. It means "red" and was given to Esau because he foolishly sold his inheritance for a bowl of red bean soup. "And Esau said to Jacob, "Please feed me with that same red stew, for I am weary." Therefore his name was called Edom" (Genesis 25:30).

For a discussion of "Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated," see "Did God pick Jacob for salvation before or after he was born?"

I can't think of a verse that speaks of perpetual haters.

In regards to the name of Edom, see "Where is Edom today?"

There have been many who have murdered Christians. The Jews and Romans did so early on, but it has and will remain a problem throughout this age. "Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you" (Matthew 5:10-12).
