3:1 Hence, no longer forbearing it, we were delighted to be left behind in Athens alone.
3:2 And we sent Timothy, our brother and God's servant and fellow worker in the good-news of Christ, *that* he might establish and comfort you*, in regard to your* faith;
3:3 that no one be stirred up by these afflictions; for* you * yourselves know that we are destined *for this.
3:4 For* even when we were with you*, we told you* beforehand that we are about to be afflicted; just-as it happened and you* know.
3:5 Because of this, no longer forbearing it, I also sent Timothy, *that* I might know your* faith, lest the tempter had tempted you*, and our labor might become vain.
3:6 But when Timothy came now to us, from you*, and brought us good-news of your* faith and love*, and that you* have a good remembrance of us always, longing to see us, just-as we also long to see you*.
3:7 Because of this brethren, we were comforted over you* in all our affliction and calamity through your* faith,
3:8 because now we live, if you* are standing fast in the Lord.
3:9 For* what thanksgiving are we able to repay to God concerning you*? For all the joy with which we are rejoicing in front of our God is because of you*,
3:10 exceptionally beseeching God night and day, *that* we may see your* face and may perfect the deficit in your* faith.
3:11 Now may our God and Father himself and our Lord Jesus Christ, steer our way to you*.
3:12 And may the Lord make you* increase and abound in love* one toward another and toward all men, just-as we also do toward you*;
3:13 *that* he might establish your* hearts blameless in holiness in front of our God and Father, in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ, with all his holy-ones.
