Affected Teaching
The word in question is “ochlos” which carries with it the meaning of “multitude or crowd. He withdrew but a great multitude of people followed Him and He healed them all. Does one think that after a notable miracle has taken place like that, that it would draw only 25 or 50 or even 100? The word would spread like wildfire and anyone in that town with some kind of malady would have shown up to be healed. This was near Capernaum and that would have been a populated area with approximately 1500-2000 living there. It would not surprise me if the majority of the town came out not only to be healed but to see Jesus. The minority text bible translations always seem to reduce the intensity and scope of the miracles of Jesus simply because they make man increase while Jesus decreases.
